Wynne Stevens Wood joined the heavenly host of angel choirs on Friday, September 2, 2016. She was born in Flint, Michigan on July 28, 1933 to Charles and Regina Stevens. She was the youngest of three children including her brother Judson and sister Agnes. Wynne graduated from Flint Northern High School in 1951. She attended Flint Junior College and was a proud graduate of the music school of the University of Michigan. A life-long actress and musician, Wynne began her performing career in Flint's Musical Tent. She sought her fortune in New York City as a young adult, where she sang with the Robert Shaw Chorale, and auditioned for countless roles. There she met her husband, David Wood, and together they moved to Phoenix Arizona, where their children Diane and Jonathan were born. Wynne returned to Michigan with her children in 1968, and since then has been a fixture in the local performing arts scene of Grand Blanc and Flint. Her many roles and the deep friendships she made with other musicians, actors and artists were the joys of her life. In her professional life, Wynne was a pioneer, blazing a trail for women working at General Motors. She was the first woman to work in the purchasing department at Chevrolet-Flint, advancing to executive status by the time she retired from AC-Delphi in 1998. Wynne was a dedicated servant of Christ, practicing her faith at Faith Lutheran Church in Grand Blanc, where she served in many roles, volunteering in practically every possible capacity. Her church was her life line, and she attended every Sunday, even through the last difficult years of her life. Wynne is survived by her daughter Diane Wood Sponheim, son Jon, grandsons Micah and Luke Sponheim, a niece, nephews and many devoted friends she considered family. She was preceded in death by her parents, step parents, brother Judson and sister Agnes. A service celebrating Wynne's life will take place on Wednesday, September 7, 11:00 am at Faith Lutheran Church, 12534 Holly Road, Grand Blanc, MI with one hour of visitation prior to. Visitation will take place Tuesday, September 6, from 5 PM – 7 PM at Hill Funeral Home, 11723 S. Saginaw.
