Thomas was born at the Naval Hospital in Cadiz, Rota, Spain on February 1, 1975.
Tom grew up on Barnes Lake and enjoyed all of the pleasures of lake life: swimming, boating, fishing, and catching all the creatures that lived in the lake. He attended elementary school in North Branch and finished his high school education at North Branch Wesleyan Academy in 1993.
Tom was very active in sports throughout his early life. He excelled in basketball, baseball, and football and held several school records. His passion for basketball remained strong throughout his early adult life. He also enjoyed playing golf with his father and son, Nick. Tom and Nick kept the Michigan – Michigan State rivalry alive and strong in our family.
Tom worked for several automotive tooling suppliers in inventory management. Tom enlisted in the Navy in April 1995 and was stationed in Everett, Washington on the USS Paul Foster as a cryptologist. After his service Tom started his own window cleaning company that provided both commercial and residential services. Tom’s greatest time was spent with his family, especially those times with his three children, Nicholas, Olivia, and Isabella.
Thomas is survived by his parents Jan and Llano Meredith, sister Tammy (Tommy) Evoy, Lacy (Eric) Gawne and his son Nicholas, Kristi (Brooks) Vanaken and his two girls Olivia and Isabella, nieces Felica (Jasper) Moore, Brittany (Brad) Carone, along with many other loving family members and friends. Thomas was preceded in death by his grandparents James and Capitola Meredith, Carl Koenders and Renita Rider, special friends Nick Tewksberry and Adam Norton.
The family wishes to thank Mission Point of Belding Staff and Elara Caring Hospice for their kind and loving care.
