Thomas was born on February 6, 1942 to Bernard and Eileen (Carlson) McCombs. He was a husband to LaVerne (Axelson) McCombs, father to Patrick (Wendy) McCombs, Sara (Richard) Hoyle, and Lisa McCombs, and beloved grandfather to Patrick and Maxwell McCombs, and Miles, Elliot, and Rory Hoyle. Thomas also leaves behind two sisters, Victoria (David) Colson, and Susan (Young) Suh, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Tom grew up in Flint, graduating from Flint College in 1964. He next obtained a Juris Doctorate from Wayne State University in 1967. Tom settled in Grand Blanc and practiced law for more than 50 years. Tom loved to spend time with his grandchildren and attended any sporting event and performance that he could. He also had a great love of history and loved to discuss world events and how they related to history. Tom spent many hours painting, golfing, and growing roses. He enjoyed traveling to Stratford, Ontario for the annual Shakespeare Festival.
A memorial service will be announced once restrictions for gatherings are lifted.
Thomas will be deeply missed by family and friends.
