BURROW, SYLVIA JO, Died Sunday July 15, 2012 at McLaren Regional Medical Center. Funeral Services will be 1:00 P\M. Saturday, July 21, 2012 at the Hill Funeral Home, 11723 S. Saginaw St., Grand Blanc, MI. Interment at Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 1:00 to 8:00 P.M.. Sylvia Jo was born August 5, 1936 in Flint, MI. to Melvin and Cecilia Brogan (Arcond). Sylvia Jo was a very special person and accomplished many things. She was a singer-song writer and recorded her song “Come Hell or High Water” and “Try a Little Love On Me” in the 70’s which made the top charts. Sylvia Jo was a friend of a non-conformist Willie Nelson. She had her own radio show at the age of 14 and performed with artists such as Loretta Lynn, Kitty Wells, Little Jimmy Dickens, Ernest Tubb, and Bobby Bare along with many others. Sylvia Jo was named The Michigan Queen of The Michigan Hayride Association from 1977 thru 1982 and was inducted into the County Music Hall of Fame in 2001. She and Gabby opened the Wagon Wheel Tavern in 1988 and provided many community fundraisers for Toys for Tots, Special Olympics, and the Children’s Miracle Network to name a few. April 18, 1953 Sylvia Jo was united in marriage to Darrell (Gabby) L. Burrow in Flint, MI. They had four children, Darrell L. of VT. Allan D.(deceased), Desiree’ Jo (Ron) Tanner of Burton, and Bridgit M. Lorrison of Grand Blanc, five grandchildren Lee of GA, Jesse of Flint, Amber of FL, Angela of GA, and Amy of GA. six great grandchildren. Godchildren Savanna, and Ben. Special friends Judge Herman Marable, Brother-in-Law George Pierson, Kay, Peggy, and Barbra plus many, many friends and pet kitty Boots. Sylvia Jo was preceded in death by her Mother and Father, husband Darrell (Gabby), son Allan Dale, brother Bill, sisters Frances, Betty, Crystal, and Rebecca, and special pets Fu-Fu, and Kujo.
