MICK, Leland Wales – The Lord received His faithful and loved child into Heaven July 26, 2012 at the age of 93. He was born in Flint, MI November 4, 1918 the son of John and Grace (Johnson) Mick. Lee graduated from Flint Central High School. On June 29, 1940 Leland married Lois G. Sanford. Lee was the one recipient from the 6th Corp of the Army Citizens Military Training Corp to receive the General John J. Pershing Award. He served his country during W.W.II as an Army Drill Sergeant in Camp Wolters, Texas and in 1974 retired from Buick. Many knew Leland for his paintings of the local area and the state of Michigan. Lee received the Lord Jesus as his Savior in 1944 and had a very close relationship with Him as he readily shared with all. We know he is now with the Lord for II Corinthians 5:8 states “Absent from the body present with the Lord.” Lee is survived by his dearly loved wife Lois Mick; children, Rodney (Corliss) Mick, Barbara (Edward) Shiflett, Larry (Terry) Mick, Carol (Rick) Puderbaugh; 14 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Kenneth Mick and brothers, Allen and Douglas Mick. Friends may visit the family from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Brown Funeral Home, 1480 E. Hill Rd., Grand Blanc, MI. The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday, July 30, 2012 at the funeral home. Pastor Bill Roland will officiate. Burial will follow at Crestwood Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of cut flowers, plants are requested as a living remembrance or contributions to Lee and Lois’ missionary projects.
