Kathleen Ann “Kathy” (Stout) Coggins, age 72, passed away on Tuesday, January 24, 2017. She was born on September 22, 1944 in Midland to parents Donald and Marian (Chisholm) Stout. Kathy graduated from Midland High School in 1962. After graduation she moved to Flint to live with her Aunt Sally Hammock. It was there that she met Lester Levaughn Coggins, her future husband. Les and Kathy were married on April 21, 1967 in Otisville, Michigan. Les preceded Kathy in death on May 24, 2000 after 33 years of marriage. She worked for GTE and Faris Brothers Furniture for several years. Those who know Kathy would describe her as a faithful, generous, compassionate, and loving woman. Her humor and wit always made her the life of the party. Kathy was truly beautiful inside and out and welcomed everyone she met with a kind and open heart. She enjoyed many things like music, camping, traveling, and family gatherings, especially around Christmas time. But more than anything, she loved her children and grandchildren. Kathy will be lovingly remembered by her children: Brian Keith (Tami) Coggins of Millington, Carrie Kathleen (Jim Morgan) Coggins of Montrose, Brent Alan (Michelle) Coggins of Port St. Lucie, Florida, and Randall Levaughn (Tracy) Coggins of Fort Pierce, Florida; grandchildren: Alanah Michelle (Drew), Mason Garett, Gavin Michael, Riley Elizabeth-Kathleen, Tanner Evan, Chelsea Marie, Tyler Lane, Brody Levaughn; siblings: David Frank (Joanne) Stout of Midland, Marilyn Kay (Ronald) Jordan of Weidman, Sherin De Card of Midland, Rita Faye Fishtorn of Ft. Myers, Florida, Janice Lee Northrup of Sturgis, Donna (Paul) McBrier of Mishawaka, Indiana, and Sandy Ewing of Mishawaka, Indiana; 16 nieces and nephews, and several great nieces and great nephews. She was preceded in death by both parents and her husband. The family would like to send a special thank you to Sharon Adams, who was a caregiver, co-worker, and longtime friend of Kathy’s. A memorial service will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, February 11, 2017 at Hill Funeral Home, 11723 S. Saginaw Street, Grand Blanc. The family will receive visitors on Saturday, February 11, 2017 one hour prior to the service, beginning at 1:00pm. Those desiring may make a memorial contribution to the U of M Comprehensive Cancer Research Center or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Kathy’s name.
