Joyce McElroy

Beloved wife of John for 70 years; adored mother of Dale Gene (the late Nancy L.) McElroy; proud grandmother of Lisa M. McElroy and Brenda L. McElroy. Joyce was preceding in death by her siblings Delores, Jackie, and Irvin.

Joyce was born in Flint on March 24, 1929. She was raised by her loving uncles, John (Myrtle) Gilbertson and Fred Gilbertson. Joyce lived on St. Joseph Island in Canada for a few years in her early life until she moved back to Michigan. She graduated from Lapeer High School. Following high school,

Joyce followed a few different career paths, but finally settled on teaching in the Flint Public School system where she retired from after many years of loyal service.

Following her retirement, she was actives in the ladies groups of the Eastern Star, a former ROJ, and a past High Priestess of the Ladies Oriental Shrine. She was also active in organizations at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church of Davison, Michigan and enjoyed researching genealogy and traveling, especially her and John's trip to Scotland.

The public is invited to graveside committal services at 1:00pm on Thursday, December 10, 2020 at Evergreen Cemetery, 3145 Hill Rd., Grand Blanc, Michigan.
