Eileen Joy Scott

Eileen was born in Flint, Michigan to William and Grace Moran. Eileen attended Flint schools graduating from Flint Northern High School in 1944. She attended Flint Junior College (Mott Community College) and the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor receiving a Bachelor’s of Arts degree in Elementary Education and a Master’s degree in Education in 1951. Eileen married Robert Scott on August 25, 1951 in Flint and moved to Grand Blanc, MI in 1968 and remained happily married for 68 years, living most of those years in Grand Blanc.

Eileen began her educational career teaching kindergarten at Lewis Elementary School in Flint. She taught various elementary grade levels for 35 years with third grade being her favorite. Eileen was very active in organizations including Delta Kappa Gamma receiving a Lifetime Achievement Service Award, Flint Junior Sorosis, University of Michigan Alumni, St. Cecelia Society, Garland Street Literary Club and United Methodist Women. She was also a lifetime member of both the Michigan and National Education Associations. Eileen enjoyed collecting paper weights, Hummel figurines, reading, playing card games with her grandchildren and was an avid University of Michigan football fan cheering on the Wolverines!

Eileen was preceded in death by her husband Bob. She is survived by sons: Mark David and his wife Dorna of North Las Vegas, NV; Gregg Alan of Grand Blanc, MI and Bruce Robert and his wife Anita of Tempe, AZ; grandchildren: Stephanie Scott, Robert Scott, Jacob Scott, Lianna Scott and Ian Scott.

The family would like to send a special thanks to devoted caregivers Maggie Sims and Karen Goodrich, friends Gina Briscoe and Linda Wade as well as Ruth and Dale Fitch for being there to helping Eileen in her later years.

Eileen’s love, caring and tenderness will be greatly missed. Our memories of her will carry on in our hearts and be forever cherished.

Memorial donations may be made to Grand Blanc United Methodist Church and Alzheimer’s Foundation of America.

Services for Eileen will be held at Grand Blanc United Methodist Church on February 13 at 11:00am (515 Bush Ave., Grand Blanc, MI 48439).
