Leena Yantawanti Ramkarran, age 82, daughter of the late Pika and Sancahrie Rampat, passed peacefully on April 26th, 2020 in New York. She was born on November 7th, 1937 in Mahaica Creek, Guyana. Leena is survived by her husband, Harry “Triya” Ramkarran, her seven children, Indranie Baron, Gangadai Doodnauth, Dwarka Ramkarran, Suluchne Ali, Omadai Ramkarran, Lelowatie Mohabir and Iswerdai Changa, her two siblings, Katie and Loving, her seventeen grandchildren and five great grandchildren. All of whom she loved and touched deeply.
Leena was a caring mother, an extraordinary grandma, and a loving wife of 63 years. Many would consider her a modern-day Mother Theresa, as she was admired for her patience and generosity. Leena spent most of her early life nurturing her children and emanating rich values to her family near and far. As Leena and her husband progressed through life, they made their way to the United States. Together they enjoyed raising their grandchildren and making memories that lasted a lifetime. Although Leena cherished her time in the US, her heart was always in Guyana, where she returned and lived a humble and fulfilled life. She will forever be remembered in our hearts as the light of our lives, and most of all, the pillar of our family.
Please join us, in celebrating the life of Leena Ramkarran, on Saturday May 9th, 2020, between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., at the Woodlawn Funeral Home & Memorial Park located in Orlando, Florida.
