My earliest memories include my Aunts Vicki and Debbie, so much that I didn't know Aunt Vicki wasn't my dad's (Dewey Klahn) biological sister but rather my Aunt Debbie's friend and colleague  and sister in everything but blood, until I was a teenager.  (It made me difference. She was still my aunt. It was just kind of a duh moment with the last names and looking like my aunts.)

I always remember Vicki as one of the quieter adults I didn't have to worry about getting into some conflict with during visitations at my dad's, and that was a huge relief when I was young. As I got older and anxiety wasn't such an issue (and perceptions matured ) I could just enjoy her when I saw her in between her missionary trips. I especially loved her quiet humor and unexpected quips. I've missed her for many years now but am grateful to the example she set in her work and faith. Love you, aunts.

I first met Vicki at St Louis Christian College when I was she and Deb Klahn began teaching a new subject at SLCC.....sign language. To be honest, I needed the credit so thought I'd give it a try. My mother said I wouldn't be good at it because I talked too much with my hands...lol. However, the opposite happened...I fell in love with the class
....was asked by them to interpret the college choir tour songs in sign language which I thoroughly loved doing. Vicki and Deb taught me how to interpret with my hands the real meanings of words we often sang without thinking about them....they taught me to love deaf people and to see them as Jesus loved, not being afraid to engage in conversations. Am so grateful  for the priviledge of knowing  Vicki and her heart for the deaf and passing that on to so many like myself

Vicki was a special person who served and loved others well. Vicki was a joy to be around and was always an encouragement to me.

My family met Vicki and Debbie in January 1978 when they came to Inwood, WV to teach sign language at Cedar Grove Christian Church.

All my baby sitters attended the class. Therefore Vicki and Debbie came to my house for lunch. After lunch Vicki gave me private lessons while Debbie entertained my son.

Over the years, my home became "Do-Drop-Inn" when their travels brought them near. Several times they came with their students. After they left, I often found a plastic canvas cross stitch thank you gift. 

I am forever grateful for Debbie and Vicki officiating at my husband's funeral and spending several days with my family.

Thank you for sharing God's love with the deaf people. You were an inspiration to many others.

A treasured friend of ours and a friend of God. Well done faithful servant! We are looking forward to joining you in God's time.

You were a very special & gracious lady! Forty-Five years after I first met you, my life is still blessed to have known you. So beautiful & gentle, a gift to the world from God! Thank you Vicky for sharing your life with me.

Vicki also had a mischievous side. When we were seniors at LCC, she was my partner in crime and came up with several of the ideas we implemented.  A fun memory.

Vicki and Debbie were the first to introduce my husband, Chuck, and I to the deaf community.  The love and teaching we received from both Vicki and Debbie will forever have touched our lives and hearts.  We cannot be there for the memorial service in person.  You all will be in our thoughts and prayers.  Vicki was such a kind soul.  She showed love to all.  Until we meet again.

The family of Mark & Carol  Black and children 
(Ben, Melody, and Amy) have many fond  memories of Vicki and her gentle spirit.  She and Debbie were   instrumental in helping Carol develop a love for the deaf community and becoming a certified interpreter. 
Our children looked forward to the many weekend visits from Council Bluffs to Topeka KS to teach sign language. 
Vicki taught them to count "how many sleeps" left until the next  time they would get to  see her and Debbie.  Moreover, Vicki's love for the Lord guided her in every thing she said and did.  We look forward to spending eternity with her.  We all loved her deeply.
