Ted was born on April, 4, 1936 in Dayton, OH to the late Joseph and Gertrude Sloan. He was the youngest of 5 children, all preceded in his death. Ted was educated at Chaminade Boys Catholic School in Dayton. Upon graduation he was employed by Trans World Arlines, (TWA), where he met the love of his life, Rose Ann Luehring. He left Dayton to serve in the US Army and later married Rosie on June 22, 1957. After 3 years in the service, he was hired by Martin Marietta and moved to Orlando where he worked with the Logistic and Publication Department as a Supervisor for technical writers for the next 38 years. Ted attended Rollins College at night and earned a business degree while raising their three children; Daniel Sloan (Patti), Kimberly Anderson (Danny), and Lorinda Wood. Ted was beloved by his 9 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
Ted was active in every community he lived in. Whether on the School Board, Church Community, H.O.A., Robinswood Recreational Park, or Special Olympics, Ted selflessly offered his business and leadership gifts that made a lasting impact wherever he served. A competitor at heart, he was a cheerleader of his 3 children in their varied interests and was a constant supporter on the sidelines of his grandchildren’s sports. He often referred to Rosie as a “Peach” and said over and over, “I don’t know what I would do without her.” Ted was faithful in his Catholic faith and a lecturer at St. Andrews Church for many years. He placed his trust in Jesus on an Alpha marriage retreat and enjoyed sharing nightly prayer times together with Rosie. He kept his sense of humor to the end and will always be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, and friend.
