Mary was a devoted Christian and a loving wife, sister, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was admired for her grace, strength and devotion to her friends and family.
The romance with her husband of 68 years, the late Wayman Parks Allen, began the summer of 1947at Carolina Beach. This beach was the spot of their engagement one year later.
Their marriage brought laughter and love, as well as two children, Cynthia Allen Pennington and Stephen Craig Allen. In addition to building a loving home, Mary also had a successful career in Central Florida as a real estate broker.
Upon retirement, Wayman and Mary built a home in Burnsville, NC on the South Toe River, a splendid body of water where long-lasting and fond family memories were made. Mary enjoyed spending time with family, friends, church and Spruce Pine communities, playing bridge (she was a Regional Champion in NC), traveling, painting, entertaining and absorbing nature's beauty.
A member of Tuskawilla United Methodist Church, Mary had deep faith and love of God.
Mary was preceded in death by husband, Wayman Parks Allen: six siblings, Robert Brown, Paul Daniel Brown, Gladys Brown Harold, Stella Brown Hedrick, Opal Brown Groce, and Lilly Brown Harrelson; grandson, Cass Timothy Pennington II; and son-in-law, Cass Timothy Pennington.
Mary is survived by daughter, Cynthia Allen Pennington; son, Stephen Craig Allen (Dawn); granddaughter, Pepper Pennington Natonski (David); and great grandchildren, Mary Parks Natonski and Timothy David Natonski.
Services will be held at Woodlawn Funeral Home and Memorial Park in Gotha, Florida.
The Allen, Pennington and Brown family would like to extend our appreciation to Hospice Vistas of Central Florida for their caring and support.
"Mothers hold their children's hands for a short while, but their hearts forever."
I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth. Psalm 121
