James Phillip Hornock

Jim was born in New Alexandria, PA on July 24, 1938, he was the youngest of seven children born to George and Anna (Balik) Hornock.

He served in the Army after graduating high school, after serving his country, he returned to his home state to marry his fiancee, together they lived in a few states before settling in Orlando, Florida to begin their lives together, where he began his career with Martin Marietta after settling down. They had 3 sons, he returned to school at Rollins College, Winter Park, FL., where he earned his bachelor of science in Logistics Engineering and continued working with Martin Marietta until retiring in 1994. After retiring, he and his wife built their dream home and traveled all around the world traveling to over 100 countries, they also enjoyed spending time with their son's families, he spent numerous hours volunteering with the Boy Scouts of America and Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation.

Jim's later years were spent with his sons, Jeff, Rick and grandchildren fishing and hunting, attending Rocky Mountain Foundations and N.R.A. events, he loved hanging out in the garage at home reminiscing of the past while tossing back a cold brew or two...

Jim was a devoted husband, father and adored his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Cecelia M. Hornock for 52 years (2013) and oldest son, Daniel J. Hornock (2006), parents, George and Anna (Balik) Hornock, sisters, Mary Pacienza, Anna-Maria Suman, sisters in law, Virginia (George), Helen (Michael). Brothers: George (Virginia), Michael (Helen), John and Steve, and brother in law, Jerry Suman.

He is survived by sons, Jeffrey S. (Susan), their children, Jordan H. Benfield (husband, Nathan), Austin and Kasey Hornock, all of NC and son, Richard P. (Dawn) their children, Derrick and Colin (wife, Rachel) Hornock of Colorado. In laws, Tony and Mary Ann Damico (Cecelia's sister) have remained extremely close until the very end. He has many nephews and nieces.

He was blessed with a great grandson, Wyatt Jeffrey Benfield. Jim loved every moment when Wyatt came to visit or made a call on FaceTime, it made him light up with joy and filled his heart full, and he smiled ear to ear.

Jim aka Pappy will be missed by all that are left behind but rejoice knowing he is now in a place that his heart has been missing for many years with his beloved Cecelia and son Dan.

We will forever carry you in our hearts!

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested in Jim's honor that donations be made to the Ronald McDonald house of Charlotte, NC Attn: Vicky Seksinsky and or to the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation at RMEF.org.

A celebration of life will be held at Jim's home on September 22, 2023 at 4pm to 8pm.
