Gobin Persaud, age 84, of Orlando, FL died September 8, 2021. He was born in East Bank Demerara, Guyana on January 15, 1937. He was the son of Lallman and Ramdai Rambharose. He was the Senior Superintendent of Land Surveying for the Government of Guyana before migrating to North America in the late1970's. Gobin lived for a short time in Toronto, Canada before making Orlando his permanent home in 1980. He worked for the State of Florida as a Land Surveyor before retiring.
In his retirement years, he worked part time in real estate. Gobin attended Lake Sherwood Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed gardening, politics, and spending time with his grandchildren. He will be remembered for his charitable acts of kindness towards the homeless and children and his deep love for his family. Gobin was a donor to St. Judes, Feed the Children, Smile Train, and the Ronald McDonald House.
He is survived by his four children: Celeste Short (Jason Short and children: Dana and Maya), Jackie Kyanko (Robert Kyanko and children: Crystal and Spencer), Shaun Persaud (daughter: Ashley Persaud), and Sharmila Deonarine (Navin Deonarine and children: Devin and Ella Deonarine). He is predeceased by 4 siblings and his parents and has 4 surviving siblings (Leila Masihdas, Chandra Mangaru, Mahadeo Persaud, and Phulo Persaud) and many nieces and nephews residing in Canada, New York, and Florida.
A visitation for Gobin will be held Tuesday, September 21, 2021 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Woodlawn Memorial Park & Funeral Home, 400 Woodlawn Cemetery Road, Gotha, FL 34734. A funeral service will occur Wednesday, September 22, 2021 from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM at Woodlawn Memorial Park & Funeral Home.
