He was born in Brooklyn, New York on April 7th, 1953. George graduated from Holy Trinity High School and received a Bachelor’s degree from Pace University.
He married Susan Hussey on October 5th, 1974.
Professionally, George thrived in leadership roles. Over the course of his career, he held various leadership roles with Loomis, Biacore and American Express Bank.
George’s primary passion in life was his family. He was a selfless person with a heart of generosity. This generosity continued after he passed through his desire to be an organ donor. Throughout his life, George spent every opportunity he had making sure his family had the best life possible. From family trips to family meals, to soccer in the yard, George could always be found surrounded by his family. In recent years, George became almost inseparable from his two grandchildren.
George’s other passion was sports. He was a lifelong Yankees, Giants and Rangers fan. In his early years, he played baseball, football, basketball and soccer. George went on to play baseball in college and semi-professionally before calling it a career. Later in life, George’s passion for sports showed again through coaching and he used sports to develop others. Over the years, he was a youth baseball and soccer coach. Recently, George volunteered as a soccer coach for Foundation Academy and his granddaughter’s team in the Winter Garden Recreational Soccer League.
He is survived by his wife Susan (Lorenz), his sons Scott (Miranda) and Bryan, his grandchildren Madison and Finnlee, his sister in-law Diana Lorenz and father in-law Frederick (Catherine) Lorenz.
In lieu of sending flowers to the celebration or support to our family, we would ask that you support the recently formed George J. Hussey Scholarship Fund at Foundation Academy. This Scholarship Fund is intended to honor George’s commitment to coaching and passion for developing others.
As many of you may know, George was a coach for the Foundation Academy Boys Varsity Soccer Team and a valued member of the Foundation Family. True to George, this was a volunteer opportunity that he quickly became fully committed to. It is our desire to honor George’s selflessness and generosity through this scholarship fund. Through this fund, financial support will be awarded to lower income families with children who have a track record of excellence both inside and outside of the classroom. Donations to this fund can be made at https://www.foundationacademy.net/george-hussey/.
