George Maurice Dow, 70, passed away on December 17, 2011. He was born in Melbourne, FL on September 28, 1941 and grew up in Fort Pierce. A 1959 graduate from Dan McCarty High School, he earned his Bachelor’s Degree at the University of Florida in 1963.
He served as an officer in the U.S. Air Force from 1963 to 1968; He was employed by the Walt Disney Company during the pre-opening days.
After leaving Disney, he entered UCF where he earned his Master’s Degree in Business Administration and taught accounting. Later he moved on to Valencia CC where he taught accounting for 29 years and became Program Director prior to retiring in 2004.
He was an active member of the Masonic Order, both as a member and Chapter Dad of Demolay and Past Master of Composite Masonic Lodge No. 293 in Orlando. In 2010 he was bestowed the highest honor of 33rd degree Scottish Rite Mason.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Loretta (Bagley), children Robin and Bryce (Greg) Dow of Orlando, and sister, Shirley Bice of Kissimmee.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. Funeral arrangement are handled by Woodlawn Funeral Home with visitation on Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 PM and memorial service on Friday, December 23, 2011 at 2:00 PM.
