Francis Joseph Miller, age 99 ½, of Clermont, Florida, passed away on May 1st, 2023, at 12:25 PM. at South Lake Hospital. He resided at home in Clermont since March 2000 along with his loving daughter who was also his caregiver. Due to declining health over the past several months the caring and compassionate team from Vitas Hospice assisted in his care at home. The nurse’s aide, Chris, from Sandcastle Home Care came to our home a few days a week to help care for my dad. She brought my dad much joy and I will be forever grateful for the smile she put on his face. My dad was born in Brooklyn, NY on November 30, 1923, to George and Alice Miller. He was a World War II combat veteran who fought in the Pacific theater under General McArthur. He was an anti-aircraft WWII veteran who fought in various battles in New Guinea and the Japanese islands and the Philippines. After the war he worked as a stock transfer clerk in New York City and then in Accounting at Manufacturers Hanover Bank in New York City for 17 years. He got married to a wonderful woman, Elsie Miller, in 1953 who predeceased him in death on April 21, 1998. They had one child, a daughter, and eventually moved to Bethpage, Long Island New York in 1962. In 1971 the family moved to Orlando, Florida. He worked for Bremer Brace Company for many years and then retired. He loved gardening and animals and was a Dallas Cowboy fan since the 1960’s. He was an MLB Giant fan since he was a young man. His favorite music was Glen Miller from the great band era and loved watching old classic movies starring Bing Crosby. He was a good father and loving husband who had a great sense of humor. Francis (Frank) will be truly missed by all the lives he touched. He is survived by his daughter, Carolyn Miller; his godson, Tom Kuhl, who resides with his wife, Pamela, in McKinney, TX; and his cousins, Mr. & Mrs. John & Louise Miller.
A funeral service for Francis will be held Friday, May 12, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 720 12th St., Clermont, Florida 34711.
