Charles Donald Riley, age 75, known to most simply as “Chuck”, passed away on January 16, 2024, at his home surrounded by family in Jacksonville, FL, after navigating various health challenges, including throat cancer.
Chuck will be remembered for his caring nature and his "gift of gab," a talent he used to connect with people from all walks of life. Chuck was a long-time resident of Fairfax, VA, working alongside his family operating various moving and storage businesses, and loved sharing stories of “the good old days” of growing up there with anyone who would listen.
He was predeceased by his mother and father, Marguerite and James Riley; his eldest sibling, Patricia Kraft; his elder brother, Jim Riley; his younger brother, Bill Riley; his wife, Margaret Riley; and his eldest daughter, Jen Tussing. He is survived by his youngest daughter, Katie Hochman, son-in-laws Max Hochman and Leith Tussing, and his younger brothers, Tom Riley and Mike Riley.
At Chuck’s request, the funeral will be a private burial ceremony. He wishes to tell his friends, family, and acquaintances the following:
"Don't worry about not coming to see me, I'm not really here anymore anyways. Instead, wherever you are, have a drink, tell some stories, and pray for me. Have no regrets, as I have had a great life!"
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Red Cross Society to honor the memory of Chuck's dedication to helping others during times of need.
Fond memories and kind condolences may be shared for the Riley family in the online guest book below.
