Calvin met his beloved wife Mildred (Key) when they were just schoolmates, winning her over even in her shyness. They married at age 19, just before he entered the U.S. Air Force, and were married for 66 years. When he returned, they were blessed with four daughters. Feeling called of God into pastoral ministry, he moved his family to Nashville, TN where he graduated from Trevecca Nazarene College (now Trevecca Nazarene University). He earned his Master’s Degree from Rollins College in Winter Park, FL.
Reverend Milam pastored Grace Chapel in Nashville, TN; Pine Hills Nazarene, Pine Hills, FL; Brewton Nazarene, East Brewton, AL; Vero Beach Nazarene, Vero Beach, FL; and Longwood Nazarene, Longwood, FL.
While pastoring in Pine Hills, Calvin taught 6th and 7th grades and served as assistant principal for Orange County schools. He taught in Vero Beach elementary schools while pastoring in Vero.
The Milam Family enjoyed camping, the beach, Disney World and travelling to visit family. For their 50th Anniversary Calvin and his wife, four daughters and their husbands, and grandchildren all celebrated by taking a seven day cruise. Calvin and Mildred traveled to Hawaii and went to the Holy Land (Israel).
Calvin was an avid rare coin collector, he played golf, enjoyed working in his yard, swimming in his pools and liked watching all kinds of sporting events on TV and in person.
He was a wonderful Christian man who loved God and his family. His faith was real and was lived out every day of his 85 years. He was loved by everyone that met him. His was a life well-lived for Jesus.
Calvin is survived by his wife, Mildred; four daughters, Pam Rummel, Penny Newton, Donna Hutton and Diana Bentley; siblings, Frances Deyerle and David Milam; 7 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and countless parishioners, friends and neighbors that were all like family to him.
