The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the LORD forever. -Psalm 23
It is with deep sadness and heavy heart that the Tobee family announces the home going of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, Mr. Benedictus G. Tobee Sr, also known as Bro. Tobee, who passed on peacefully at his residence in Ocoee Florida, on Monday September 11, 2023 after a prolonged illness.
He was a simple man who loved life, was a friend to everyone and I’m sure anyone who met him will agree that he made a lasting impression on each of us. He was a light in this world to everyone he came across, always with a smile that lit up any room. A life so beautifully lived deserves to be celebrated and although our hearts are saddened we find solace in knowing that he’s in a better place. Our lives and our world will never be the same without him.
Mr. Benedictus G. Tobee Sr. was born in Sarbo Village, Maryland County, Liberia to Chief Sopah Tobee and Old Lady Wala both predeceased. He was one of six siblings by his mother: Peter Tobee, Jaity Tobee, Yannah Tobee, Cheajue “Chi-a-Jue Tobee and Jerry Tobee. He leaves to mourn his death, his wife of 53 years (plus four years of courtship for a total of 57 years together), Mary Banks Tobee; his children Benedictus Sopah Tobee Jr.(Shanlander Tobee), Henrietta Creighton(Craig Creighton), Kretzschmar Tobee, Mary Yannah Tobee, Baldwin Tobee, Shewvan Small and Clarence Hill (Evangeline Hill). His brother’s Jerry K. Tobee and Daniel Tobee(paternal), Nineteen grandchildren and ten great grandchildren, nieces and nephew and a host of others.
