William Swanson

Mr. William Lloyd Swanson, 64, of Goodyear, AZ died October 16, 2014 in Goodyear, AZ.  He was born March 2, 1950 in Juneau, Alaska to Severin Halle Swanson Jr. and Barbara Madge Swanson.  He served for over 20 years in the US Air Force and the US Air Force Reserves as a Master Sergeant.  In active duty, he was awarded 2 Air Force Commendation Medals and several other awards.  His service included two tours of duty in Vietnam and several other locations around the globe.  After retirement from the Air Force, he chose to help mold the minds of young people and became a middle school teacher and Vice Principal.  His education included a BS from Ball State University and a Master’s from NAU.  His hobbies included travel, fishing, and photography.  Bill is survived by his wife Linda Beth; daughter Gayle Michelle Swanson; son William Lloyd (Tiffany) Swanson II; sister Kathie (Don) Wood; and granddaughter Maelle Grace Swanson.  Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, October 22nd at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 N.
