Wayman Adcock

E. Wayman Adcock, 77, of Avondale, went to be with his Lord and Savior on February 14, 2015. He was born on November 17, 1937 in Carlinville, IL, to Charles E. and Katherine Adcock, and grew up in multiple states throughout the Midwest and the south. After settling in Aurora, IL, he met and married the love of his life, Karin (Moncorps), on October 25, 1963.  They had 51 years together where they lived life with love, faith, courage, trust, and laughter. Wayman was a heavy equipment operator for many years and worked on such jobs as building the Eisenhower Expressway in Chicago and the Clinton, IL nuclear powerplant. He also raced his stock car, number 57, at Chicago’s Santa Fe Speedway. He and his family moved to a small farm in Girard, IL in 1971 where they lived before moving to Arizona in 1984. He retired from the Agua Fria Union High School District in 2000 as the Director of Maintenance and Operations. After retiring, he loved spending time with his family, travelling to Europe, and beating the Arizona heat spending the summer months in San Diego by the ocean in their RV. He will be forever missed by his loving family and friends. Wayman is survived by his beloved wife, Karin, of Avondale; his mother, Katherine (Wolfe) Adcock, of Youngtown; his son Jeffrey (Michele) Adcock of Litchfield Park; his daughter, Jennifer (Lorne) Shantz, his grandson, Nathaniel Shantz, and his granddaughter, Rachael Shantz, all of Phoenix; and his first cousin, Hettie (Tom) Willoughby of Springfield, IL. He is preceded in death by his father, Charles; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, February 21st at Thompson Funeral Chapel in Goodyear. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Shriners Hospital for Children in Wayman’s name.
