

Robert was born August 21, 1949 to Roger Clymer and Josephine (Gowing) Clymer.
Robert graduated from Boone High School in 1968 and joined the US Navy in August 1968, serving on the Naval Submarine USS-Tusk. At 6’6”, it was an unusual choice, but one he thoroughly enjoyed.
After his service, Robert moved back to Boone, Iowa where he worked alongside his father in the Boone Dairy processing business. When his father slowed down and retired, Robert moved on to work for United Airlines in customer service. He worked in the reservation center in South Bend, Ind. and eventually at O’Hare in Chicago and Sky Harbor in Phoenix. He loved working with people and co-workers, maintaining his sense of humor and dedication. He also worked the ramps, missing the airplanes after retirement. He was with United 28 years.
Prior to, and after retirement, he did exceptional woodworking and carving. He was a talented and inspired woodworker, improving their home with crafted and unique projects.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents and friend since childhood, Michael McCambridge.
Robert is survived by his wife of 22 years Betty, daughters Melissa (Wayne - deceased) Dudones, Mandy (Robert) Cwick, Amy (Branden) Sharp, seven grandchildren, and six great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower St.
