Rick Wolf, 75, was greeted by the Heavenly Father on September 26, 2022, in Surprise, Arizona. A visitation will be held Tuesday, October 4, at 6pm, at Thompson Funeral Chapel in Goodyear, Arizona. A memorial service with full military honors will be held October 5, at 10am, in the National Memorial Cemetery in Phoenix, Arizona.
Rick was born December 7, 1946 in Portland, Oregon to Kenneth “Bud” and Evelyn Wolf. He was the sibling of two sisters and two brothers. In June 1964, he graduated from Jefferson Highschool in Portland, Oregon. Rick enlisted in the U.S. Air Force on January 13, 1965 and attended basic training at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas.
He married the lovely Sherry L. Green on July 4, 1982 in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was a loving and devoted husband, and a great friend to many, known for his loyalty and unquestionable integrity. He had a distinguished military career of 27 plus years; serving his country in the U.S. Air Force as a firefighter. His tours of duty included Kindley AFB, Bermuda; Chanute AFB, Illinois; Da Nang AB, Viet Nam; Luke AFB, Arizona; Hahn AB, Germany; Norton AFB, California; Gila Bend AFAF, Arizona; Tyndall AFB, Florida; Comiso AB, Sicily; Ramstein AB, Germany; and Peterson AFB, Colorado.
Rick retired from the U.S. Air Force in April 1992, and served as a Contract Fire Officer in Turkey, Ascension Island, Diego Garcia, and Iraq. Additionally, he served two tours with the Department of Defense at Gila Bend AFAF as a Fire Protection Quality Assurance Evaluator for the 56th Range Management Office, Luke AFB, Arizona.
Rick was lifelong athlete and spent several years playing slow pitch softball around the world; winning many championships. He also coached and played on several base softball teams. However, his favorite activity was golf; winning several military tournaments to include the base championship at Incerlik AB, Turkey. In full retirement, he thoroughly enjoyed traveling the seven seas with his wife.
He is survived by his bride of 40 years, Sherry of Buckeye, Arizona; brothers, Stephen Wolf of Portland, Oregon, one sister, Kevin Christianson from Shelton, Washington; and multiple loving nieces, nephews and numerous grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents Bud and Evelyn, his sister Lynda Marie, and his father-in-law Kenneth R. Green, MSgt, USAF, retired, and mother-in-law Mary Louise Green.
