Dennis’s journey through life began in Chicago, Il. April 5, 1951, born to George E Moore Jr. and Corrine Dennis Moore Threalkill.
During his life span Rick worked in sales as a wardrobe consultant, pursued modeling, worked in security for Pinkerton Agency in Chicago as well as security with Oprah Winfrey’s security staff. During his line of work he met many dignitaries and celebrities who found him not only professional, intelligent, intriguing, but a person they admired.
One story to remember—Rick attended Thornton Township High School from 1967 to 1971. As a freshman in high school, he was instantly popular with everyone from men, women, athletes, everyday students, coach’s and teachers. He played on the championship basketball team for Washington Junior High and for Thornton High School's Freshman basketball team during his first year. However, Rick’s actual athletic claim to fame was that he was Thornton High School's first black quarterback. Before his time, he was described as having "a rocket arm".
Rick was charismatic everyone wanted to be around him. Rick was a that man who would give you the shirt off his back. There is no way a man of his stature can ever be replaced. He takes with him a big very big part of us and he left us so much, that’s a big part of him. He will be remembered as that funny, happy, inspiring, loving, caring and charming man with a big smile.
Dennis leaves to cherish his memories into the hearts of his siblings: Sister Paulette Smith and husband Lester Smith, sister Tamara Avant Paulsen and husband James Paulsen and his brother Michael Moore and wife Gina Moore. His nephew's: Marius Powell and Johnnie Avant III , and 11 great nieces and nephews: Nodia Powell, Jesse Miranda, Jonathan Miranda, Jacob Miranda, Joshua Miranda, Kyla Powell, Aubrie Avant, Armani Avant, Alijah Avant, Amiri Avant, Angelique Avant, and many extended family members from across the world who miss and love him dearly.
From day one our Lord God tasks us with a purpose while we visit this place called earth. Only God knows what that is and we walk this journey being utilized as an instrument for his purpose and when it is done he brings back home. Our Brother Rick has been called home to rest his spirit for awhile until our Lord Jesus comes again to bring us all home and what a day that will be!!! No more pain, no more laboring, no more worrying, no more concerns.
Dennis (Rick) will be missed deeply by many, for he brought joy and laughter to all of us and lived life to the fullest.
