Louistine Hurley Mattox Ludlow, 77, of Avondale passed away on December 23, 2012. Ms. Ludlow was born January 29, 1935, in Salina, Oklahoma to Melda Fulks Hurley (Mabis) and Louis Hurley, and moved to Avondale as a young girl. She was also the step-daughter to the former Fire Chief of Avondale, John Mabis. She was a resident of Avondale and attended Litchfield High School . During her high school years she took pride in leading the band as the majorette. She moved to Bakersfield , CA to be a homemaker and moved back to Avondale in the late 1970s. She was employed by the Ramada Inn in Goodyear for a number of years. After she retired, she tirelessly cared for her ailing mother. She loved spending time with her children and doted on her grandchildren. She is survived by her three sons, Mickey Mattox of Milwaukee, WI, Tem Mattox of Bakersfield, CA and Rick Orick of Goodyear; seven grandchildren; two sisters, Kathryn Mathalia of Glendale and Jo Karan Mann of Plano, TX; one uncle, Willie Fulks and one aunt, Martha Anderson, both of Goodyear. A memorial service will be held at the First Baptist Church of Avondale at 1:00 pm on December 29th and officiated by Reverend Tem Mattox.
