Loraine E. Long, (nee Bruggemeyer) age 96, a resident of Litchfield Park, AZ and a former long-time resident of Lombard, IL passed away on June 28, 2019, at La Loma Care Center in Arizona surrounded by family members. Loraine was born November 1, 1922, in Chicago, IL at Grant Hospital and spent most of her life in Lombard.
Loraine was primarily raised in Oak Park attending Oak Park-River Forest High School but graduated from Proviso High School in 1940 because of a family move to Maywood. Loraine was an Honored Queen in Jobs Daughters and worked at Amertorp, a torpedo manufacturer in the early 1940s in Forest Park. Loraine was a member of the First Church of Lombard for over 55 years before moving to Arizona.
Loraine was the beloved wife of Warren (Bud) Long for over 68 years before his passing in 2011. They were Lombard residents dating back to 1957. Loraine moved to Litchfield Park, AZ in 2015 to be near her daughter after residing in Beacon Hill in Lombard.
Loraine is the loving mother of Judy Reinking (Paul) of Goodyear, AZ (both formerly of Lombard), and Jeff Long (Jodi) of Naperville, IL. Loraine was the adored grandmother of Kristin Jackson of Peoria, AZ; Jeff Reinking of Portland, OR; and of Kevin and Ryan Long of Naperville. She is the great grandmother of Amanda, Trey and Zach Woodard of Peoria, AZ. Loraine leaves one brother, Roger Bruggemeyer of Grand Rapids, MN and many nieces and nephews.
A small service will be held at La Loma Village in Litchfield Park, AZ. Donations can be made in Loraine’s name to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation at JDRF, 1 North LaSalle Street, Suite 1200, Chicago, IL 60602.
