Lois Ann Jones, 75, of Litchfield Park, passed away November 17, 2012. She was born September 15, 1937 in Butte, Montana to Thomas and Hazel Riley. Lois worked for 30 years at the railroad as a clerk in the accounting department and as a payroll clerk. After retiring, she worked for the State of Montana in Deer Lodge in the registers office. Lois was Valedictorian of her graduating class. She then married Mel Jones on May 27th 1961 at St. Joseph’s Church in Anaconda. They later became Eucharist Ministers and remained so until they moved to Arizona in January 2000. While in Anaconda, they were Montana state representatives for North America Council for Adoptable Children. They attended national conferences in Washington D.C., Albuquerque, Chevy Chase N.Y. and Toronto, Canada. In 1981, they adopted 3 siblings from the state of Illinois. After moving to Arizona, they again were involved as Extra Ordinary Eucharist Ministers of St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Avondale. They still remain as Vincentians to St. Vincent de Paul. Lois is survived by her husband of 51½ years, Mel Jones; son Bill of Coos Bay, OR; son Jason of Phoenix, AZ; daughter Jody and son-in-law, Sam of Seattle, WA; grandsons: Dakota and Sammy; granddaughters: Melody, Mistie, Rose Marie Cudzill and her husband, Matthew; great granddaughter: Kish; first cousins: Lorraine Jenkins of Great Falls, MT; Marlene Dziak and husband George of Portland, OR; and Nancy Kitchen and husband Gerry of Anaconda, MT. A visitation will be held from 6-7pm Tuesday, November 27th at Thompson Funeral Chapel, 926 S. Litchfield Rd. in Goodyear. A Memorial Mass will be held at 10am Thursday, November 29th at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 13720 W. Thomas Rd. in Avondale. Memorials can be made to St. Vincent de Paul and/or Hospice of the Valley in honor of Lois Ann Jones. A reception will be held after mass at Palm Valley Community Center, 14145 W.
