Robin Lee Maddux, of Avondale, AZ died February 29, 2020, in Phoenix, AZ. He was born December 17, 1943, in Aurora, CO to Woodrow and Renee Maddux. His family moved to the West Valley when he was six months old. He attended Union Elementary School with 19 other students and attended Tolleson Union High School. He worked for the Salt River Project for 42 years.
Fun-loving and witty, Robin would want to be remembered with a laugh and a joke. He saw life in simple, fundamental terms. His ability to focus on basic techniques and diffuse tense situations with laughter made him an excellent coach for all of his sons’ sports teams: baseball, football, track, and wrestling. He was a jockey and enjoyed skydiving in his younger years, and mostly losing while playing the slots in his older years. He was an avid gardener and kept an immaculate lawn. His Christmas light displays would rival anything imagined by Clark Griswold. He could talk to anyone and would easily befriend anyone he met, even standing in line at a store. He was very supportive of his family and friends and always there whenever something was needed. Though he may teasingly complain, he loved having his kids and grandkids around him. His love for his wife and family was evidenced by the joy of his laughter and the twinkle in his eye.
Robin is survived by his wife of 57 years, Sally Maddux; sons, Matthew Maddux, Scott (PJ) Maddux, and Jeffrey Maddux; brother Michael Maddux; 11 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Woodrow and Renee Maddux; and his brother Ronald Maddux.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, March 14, 2020, at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, 918 S Litchfield Rd, Goodyear, AZ 85338, Building B. Condolences for the family may be left below.
