Irene Theresa Bertneski, 90 of Goodyear, AZ/Clifton, NJ died March 6, 2014 in Goodyear. She was born June 7, 1923 in Clifton, NJ to George and Anna Bizub. Our mom Irene Bertneski was involved with the PTA, Decoration Committee, as well as School Dances, School Breakfast held on Sunday mornings, which we all enjoyed. Irene Bertneski along with daughter Marlene Ryan owned operated Vita Nu Health Food Center Riverdale N.J. Irene Bertneski owned and operated Irena’s Spa Wayne, N.J. Irene Bertneski volunteered so very much of her time to help the elderly, by visiting Lakeland nursing home in Wanaque, NJ and spending quality time with those who had no one to visit them. I, Marlene her daughter, remember this for I had gone with my mom many times. She was a giving person, she had a heart of gold and a smile that lit up the whole room. Everyone was so glad to see her there! She brought so much joy to whomever she met on her journey. I, Marlene had spent so much time with my mom to see her in action was a joy for me and an inspiration. I remember how she took care of my grandma who had come to live with us. How I learned the ropes…it prepared me in some ways to be able to take care of my mom in her later yrs. Irene, my mom in 2008 arrived in Arizona to live with me. She was a blessing, a joy, her precious smile will always be in my heart. We had so many good times. Out and about…taking her to different Restaurants, for she enjoyed eating out. Taking her for rides to change her atmosphere! Playing games with her each morning, playing music, singing songs….her favorites: What A Wonderful World, Good Night Irene Goodnight, amongst so many others. Irene loved music all her life and dancing. She played the piano…we as children would all be around her as we sang and she played. She was an avid skier and ice skater…she taught all of us. We frequent NYC to see the arts, plays and visit museums. We ate at Tad’s Steakhouse. She took us to various parks, to the shore every summer. Played with us in the sand…taught us so very much about life and especially love. We have many, many fond memories of these good ole’ days with mom up to the present. Mom loved music to the end…it was what brought her joy! She was a wonderful grandmother to John Paul Ryan and Carrie-Anne Moreau…many joyous times being with them throughout their lives in any way she could and did til the end. As well as a wonderful grandmother to Jason Hoglund! She was a wonderful grandmother to Dora Bertneski. They had their laughs. She did not have the chance to meet Matthew Harrison Ryan her great grandson, John her grandson’s child. Although I know she would of loved him so much! She was a wonderful great grandma to Sebastien and Ava Moreau…playing bingo, Ava coloring with great grandma, just them being with her and her with them. So much love. Mom was a very spiritual person…she taught us well! This we all are thankful and grateful for our special up-bringing! My brother Paul, her son later on moved from N.J. to help me out with moms care. We cared for her together. My mom had this thing for butterflies…they would land by her and stay. She will be remembered this way with all her beautiful butterfly pictures, momentos, scarves and butterfly rings in my home. Therefore to carry on my moms love of butterflies. My mom Irene Bertneski will be laid to rest with her Dad and Mom: George and Anna Bizub at St. Mary’s Cemetery, 1 Outwater Lane, Saddle Brook, N.J. 07663. May she RIP, for now she is in PEACE!
