Marjorie I. Wallick, age 91 of Peoria, AZ died September 17, 2016 in Sun City West AZ. She was born November 18, 1924 in Alert, IN to George Noble Irwin and Susanne Frances Pickett. Marjorie attended school from first through eighth grade at the Soldiers and Sailors Children’s Home in Knightstown, IN. She graduated from Morton High School in 1943. She received an art scholarship at the John Herron Art Institute in Indianapolis, IN but never attended. Instead, she joined the WWII war effort and worked at Lucas Harold War Plant – Norden Bomb Sight. She was the mother of six and a housewife that did it all: 4H leader, Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Football mom, and PTA. She spent some time working as a dental assistant. She also worked at The Ramada Inn in Goodyear then at the Wigwam Resort as a waitress for many years.
Marjorie is survived by her daughters, Janice Stevens, Lori Mansene, Marjann Sowders, Trina Buben; sons, Scott and Dirk Wallick; brother Don Lee Irwin; 17 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel E. Wallick; parents, George and Susanne Irwin; sisters, Mary Ilene Becker, Margret Holder; brother, Edward Irwin; granddaughter, Adrianne K Buben; father-in-law, Arthur Ed Wallick; mother-in-law, Marion Wallick; and brother-in-law, Joseph Wallick.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, October 8, 2016 at Thompson Funeral Chapel, 926 S. Litchfield Road, Goodyear, AZ. Interment will be at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, Phoenix, AZ.
