Raymond was born in Reform, Alabama on January 25, 1946, the son of the late Joe N. Glass and Carrie B. Dantzler Glass.
After graduating high school, Raymond made the decision to join the United States Air Force. During his 30 years of service, he received many honors including but not limited to the Meritorious Service Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal, Outstanding Unit Award, and the National Defense Service Medal. He ended his career with the highest Non-Commissioned Officer ranking of Chief Master Sergeant.
Upon retirement from the US Air Force, Raymond began working for ComCare in Phoenix, Arizona. He was a counselor for individuals suffering from mental illness. He flourished in this position for the next 5 years.
Raymond's most loved position in his life was being a soldier in the Army of the Lord. He gave his life to the Lord in 1987 and since has spent his life ministering to others about the goodness of God. He worked with people who were trying to get their life back on track through Strong Tower, a former division of Grace Temple Apostolic Church. He believed that all things were possible through God, and no one was beyond redemption if they believed. He always had a kind word, a word of encouragement, or words of wisdom to offer those who were struggling with addiction, abuse, and brokenness. Raymond believed in the power of prayer. He was a prayer warrior and was willing to pray for anyone who needed or requested it. Even until his final days, you could find him praising the Lord with all his might, you would find him in his word, and you could find him sending words of encouragement and empowerment from the word of God through his writings on social media. He loved the Lord, he loved people, and he had the heart of Christ in that he wished all would be saved.
Raymond is preceded in death by his brothers Newburn Glass, Wardell Glass Sr, Joe W. Glass Sr, and Willie A Glass, and one sister Annie Ruth Davis.
