Ferdinand Brassart Jr., 77, of Goodyear, AZ died December 16, 2013 of natural causes at his home in Palm Valley. He was born August 18, 1936 in North Charleroi, Pennsylvania to Ferdinand and Eva Brassart. He served in the US Army from 1960 to 1961 at Fort Hood in Killeen, Texas.
Ferdinand was employed at the Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel plant in Allenport, Pennsylvania as a steelworker for 35 plus years. He was also a skilled welder and woodworker. Ferdinand loved working outdoors and thoroughly enjoyed his Lionel train collection. He also loved helping friends and family in any way that he could. During the holidays, Ferdinand made his, an old family recipe, gaulettes, a French cookie, also known as gullets which are a favorite Christmas delicacy.
He is survived by his wife Ruth Brassart; son Edward Brassart of Arlington, TX; and sister Dorothy Mastronicola of Portage, IN. Memorial services will be held at 10:00 am on December 20th at Thompson Funeral Chapel, 926 S. Litchfield Rd. in Goodyear, AZ. His final resting place will be at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 N. Cave Creek Rd. in Phoenix, AZ.
