Donald Winfrey

Our beloved Donald Bateman Winfrey, age 75, passed away peacefully Friday morning, July 26, 2013. He was born April 29, 1938 in Beeville, TX to Samuel Sydney and Faye Bateman.  He married Maria Elena Ortiz on June 29, 1974. He is survived by his wife Maria; sons John, Donald, James and Nicholas; grandchildren Ryan, Blake, Christopher and Caroline; sister Yvonne; daughter in laws Brooke, Courtney, Stephanie and Nicole and adopted puppy Cody.  Don served his Country in the United States Marine Corps from 1956-59 in the 2nd Battalion 3rd Marines and he continued taking care of others after retirement through his volunteer work with the Maricopa Sheriff's and Buckeye Police Department.  In between, Don spent 34 years as an Executive with Sears and 4 years with Lockheed Martin.  Don loved sharing experiences with friends and family whether through travel, dinner groups or just neighborhood gatherings.  He loved having the friends whom he met over the years be a part of his life and he could always be counted on to be the light of any party.  Don will be remembered most as a father and husband who had unconditional love and devotion to his family and friends, an infectious laugh, a charming smile, a loving and warm heart and a bigger than life persona.  We miss and love you and may you rest in peace Pa.  Semper Fi.  Memorial services will be held at Thompson Funeral Chapel on Tuesday July 30, 2013 at 10:30am.  926 S. Litchfield Rd.
