Daniel P. Morrissey of Ash Fork, Arizona passed away December 10, 2023 at the age of 58. He was born March 1, 1965 in Aberdeen, South Dakota to Michael and Marsha (Minch) Morrissey. He was preceded in death by his father Michael Morrissey and step-father Donald Divelbiss. Daniel is survived by his wife of 31 years, Susan; his mother, Marsha Divelbiss; his sister, Heather Hoop; and his brother David Morrissey. He is also survived by special friends Jovani, Alexis, and Daniel Lara whom he mentored for over ten years.
Daniel grew up in Faribault, Minnesota and graduated from high school there. He attended St. Cloud State University. It was during his time at the university that he was given the opportunity to travel to Spain, China, and Zimbabwe. On July 31, 1992 he and Susan were married on the beach at Smith Cove on Grand Cayman in the Cayman Islands. For 10 years, the couple live in different areas of the Caribbean; including Puerto Rico, Grand Cayman, and St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands. They also traveled to Mexico, Italy, France, Peru, and Greece.
Daniel loved life. He loved to laugh, garden, and cook. The simple joys in life were what brought him pleasure. He was so proud of the boys he mentored. He had compassion for everyone and was always ready to teach a life lesson. His fairness and honesty were a good influence on all those around him. His bright smile and laugh will be missed forever.
A memorial service will be held at 10am, Saturday, January 27, 2024 at Thompson Funeral. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donation be made in his honor to the following:
