Born 2/27/36, in Cassville, Missouri to Glen and W Bernice (Bryant) Brock, Gene married former Linda Mae Ross on 2/18/55, (Lovelock, NV). Graduate of Nampa High (’55), Gene attended Boise State College, and graduated with honors at University of Idaho in Forestry (’61). Employed by US Forest Service with duty stations in Lowman, ID; Carson City, NV (Job Corp); Cascade, ID; and Gasquet, CA and retired as Ranger (’90).
Retired, Gene and Linda volunteered with missionaries including Summer Institute of Linguistics, Wycliffe Bible Translators, Organ Pipe Cactus NM, Mobile Missionary Assistance Program and frequently worked with sons (Greg and Matt) on residential projects.
Gene loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, hiking, traveling, bowling, writing, singing, sharing God’s Word, and spending time with family and friends. Published author and storyteller, Gene’s recent work Another Time Another Way documented USFS history in Valley County, ID (1920s-1970s).
Gene is survived by loving wife Linda of 66 years and remembered by siblings Donna (Bill Ivacek) of Nampa, ID; and Dennis (Caroline) of Nampa, ID; children: Kerry (Jacque) of Evans, WA (10 grandkids: Ryan, Kelly, Jamie, Brandon, Colin, Kyle, Tracie, Zakerry, Kody, and Brittney); Gregory of Citrus Heights, CA; Bradley of Boise, ID (granddaughter Alexa); Moira (Howard) of Boise, ID (grandkids Brock, Bryce, and Blaine); and Matthew (Dawn) of Litchfield Park, AZ (granddaughter Katelynn); and 14 great-grandkids.
Gene was predeceased in death by his parents Glen and Bernice and grandson Joshua (by Gregory).
