Donald A. Benner passed away on the 19th of January, 2017 after a brief stay at Abrazo West Campus Hospital in Goodyear, Arizona at the age of 92. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Clara Mae Benner, son Donald Jr, (Alice) Fairborn, Ohio, and daughter Debra Clark (Mark) of Goodyear Arizona, sister Elizabeth Swineford of Lewistown, Pa., grand daughters, Dana Lynn Johns (Brian) of Dayton, Ohio, and Dawn Marie Putt of West Liberty, Ohio. He is also survived by six great grand children, Logan, Jacob, Hunter, Dylan, Alec, and Alyssa, and numerous nephews and nieces.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Elizabeth Benner Stydinger; father, John David; stepfather, Jacob Stydinger; and brother, William all of Lewistown, Pa.
He was a Master Mason of over 50 years, and retired a Master Sergeant from the U.S. Air force of 20 years as an aircraft mechanic. He is a WWII Veteran, loved serving his country, sprint car racing, and boating on the Ohio River.
Don will be missed by many including the friends he made at the Groves Assisted living facility.
Don’s final resting place will be the National Memorial Cemetery of Phoenix Arizona.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to the Shriners Hospitals for children.
