Randall “Randy” Lee Wilson, age 75, of Goodlettsvlle, Tennessee passed away on Saturday, December 7, 2024. He was born September 12th, 1949 and was preceded in death by his loving parents, Florid and John Wilson.
He is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Gloria (PJ) Wilson; son John Wilson (Renee), daughter Jennifer Charette, daughter Michelle Whitaker (Nick), daughter Melissa Goostree (Clay) and son Rob Bostwick (Debbie); Grandchildren: Keara King, John Randall Wilson II, Rory Wilson, Jaylen Charette, Emmy Whitaker, Luke Whitaker, Andrew Goostree, Reagan Goostree, Bradley Bostwick and Brian Bostwick; and great-grandchildren: Evelyn Bostwick, Amelia Bostwick, Everly Bostwick and Rhett Bostwick.
Randy was born in Portsmouth, OH and lost both parents to illness at an early age. He was raised by his mom’s sister, Aunt Florence Wilson. He graduated from Wheelersburg High school and he attended Free Will Baptist College. After college he started working for the State of Tennessee and found an interest in computer programming. In 1977, he started working as a computer programmer at Genesco, Inc. He worked his way up to the Director of IT and retired from Genesco after 37 years.
Randy learned to play the guitar and piano at a very young age. He was self-taught and could hear a song and almost instantly play it perfectly. His favorite guitarist was Chet Atkins and dedicated years of his life to mastering Chet's signature technique. His favorite pastime was “picking and grinning” with his family.
Randy became a Mason at the age of 25. He worked diligently to become a Master Mason and continued to become a Mason of the 33rd Degree in the Scottish Rite. This honor is only given to individuals who have demonstrated exceptional service and dedication to their community, signifying outstanding leadership. It is considered a prestigious title that is obtained based on their dedication, merit, character, and devotion to God.
Randy was an amazing, brilliant man. He loved the Lord and his family more than anything in this world. He was a family man and unapologetically put others first. He loved to read and had a photographic memory. He regularly said that he was full of useless information. No matter what, he always found a way to throw in a funny joke or comment and always made everyone laugh. His favorite thing was spending time with his family, and he spent countless hours attending his grandchildren’s sports events.
