Noma Sue Wilkerson

Sue was born to the late Mac & Ethel Roden of Martling, AL. She married the late Sam Wilkerson in 1942, and they lived together until Sam’s passing in 1982. Sue is survived by her 6 children: Donnie (Barbara) Wilkerson; Janet (James) Pennington; Deborah (Sam) Derseweh; Teresa (Ronnie) Richards; Michael (Betty) Wilkerson; and Scott Wilkerson. Grandchildren Brian Wilkerson, Brad Wilkerson, Cory Derseweh, Chad Pennington, Angie Shelton, Cindy Kerr, Mikey Wilkerson, Christen Jones, Dean Richards, Lacey Wilkerson, Samantha Wilkerson. Great Grandchildren Chance Derseweh, Macey Munoz, Aaron Shelton, Lexie Pennington, Mackenzie Shelton, Josh Wilkerson, Gunner Wilkerson, Dalton Kerr, Morgan Shelton, Will Kerr, Jaxon Jones, Aiden Wilkerson, Haven Richards, Leighton Richards, and Vera Rose Wilkerson. Great, Great Grandchildren Lawson Pennington, and Aubree Derseweh. Sister Virginia Benson of Albertville, AL.

Sue was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Sam of 41 years and five siblings.

Sue truly embodied the meaning of the Virtuous Woman in Proverbs 31. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She loved playing the piano, singing and could yodel with the best. Her hands worked tirelessly to make beautiful quilts, embroidery, crochet pieces and was quite the accomplished seamstress. Sue loved to have family gatherings and always had an open door at her house. She spent many days caring for her family & friends. Sue was a faithful christian and was a member at Kemper Heights Church of Christ for many years until she moved and became a member at Main Street Church of Christ in Springfield. Sue will be missed by many, but leaves a legacy of love and faith in God to all who knew her.

A private visitation for the family will be held at Forrest Lawn Funeral Home on Friday, January 29, 2021 from 8:30 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. with the funeral to follow at 10:00 a.m. with Joe Rushing officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Forrest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
