Born to the late Thaddaeus (Thad) F. and Marie G. Martin in Shelbyville, TN. Nick is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Sandy; his children Sue Glover (Timm) of Gallatin, TN, Douglas F. Martin (Karla) of Hendersonville, TN and Cyndi Bannach (Adam) of Mt. Juliet, TN; grandchildren Christi Martin of Mobile, AL, Jon Martin (Alyssa) of Irvington, AL, Luke Martin of Charleston, SC, Summer Martin & Baylee Martin of Hendersonville, TN, Reed Glover (Bailey) of Gallatin, TN, Carolina Bannach and Addison Bannach of Mt. Nick’s Christian faith was central throughout his life as a longtime, faithful member of Parkway Baptist Church in Goodlettsville, TN; where he served in various roles as a Deacon, Treasurer and volunteered with the Family Life Center, local and oversea mission trips, and security. Nick also served with the Gideons for twenty years, distributed toys at the Nashville Baptist Association’s annual Christmas Toy Store and an active supporter of Full Count Ministries.
A graduate of Haverford High School in Pennsylvania, Nick’s love of his country was reflected in his service with the United States Air Force and with the Air Force Reserves. He retired from Eastman Kodak Company after twenty-seven years of employment.
Nick was devoted to Sandy and their family – never missing an opportunity to share time with them. He enjoyed good food, reading, antique cars, traveling and family vacations, especially to Myrtle Beach, SC. He took great pleasure in watching his grandchildren in their sports and activities. Nick embodied integrity, candor and generosity. He was very mechanically inclined and an all-around excellent handyman. His astute mind and particular ways will be dearly missed.
