ASHLEY, Maudie Evelyn, age 87, passed on Saturday, February 16, 2019, in Alpharetta, GA. Maudie lived most of her life in Nashville, where she was a talented artist who created beauty wherever she went. She and her husband, James, were small business owners who introduced Maudie’s English Cottage, French Country, Romantic Victorian, Folk, and Shabby Chic Art, which was sold at Local and Regional Art Exhibitions. Her catalog of art was sold at venues locally and nationally. Maudie was a member of the Artist’s Club of America, Tennessee Art League, and the Tennessee Association of Craft Artists. When Maudie and James, retired in 1998, they moved to Franklin County, Tennessee where Maudie’s volunteer work at the Franklin County Senior Citizens Center became a dedicated adventure. She was one of their largest fundraisers, contributors, and most beloved members.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James William Ashley; her parents, Ollie Bookout Stewart and James Jordan Stewart; and a son, Donnie Nelson Ashley of Hendersonville. She is survived by her children, Sandi Ashley Sutton of Alpharetta, GA; Terry William Ashley of Goodlettsville, Tim Ray Ashley of Greenville, S.C. and Ted Martin Ashley of Greenville, S.C.; 12 grandchildren, Felicia Ashley Long of Hendersonville; Heather Ashley of Red Boiling Springs, Timmy Ashley of Greenville, S.C., Taylor James Ashley of Nashville, Allison Ashley of Nashville, James Richard Ashley of Greenville, S.C.; Christopher Ashley of Greenville, S.C., Michael Ashley of Greenville, S.C., Josh Ashley of Greenville, S.C., Jacob-Ashely of Greenville, S.C., Jessie Ashley of Greenville, S.C. and Jasmine Ashley of Greenville, S.C.; nine great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Ashley was known for her radiant smile that captivated the hearts of those who came near. Her indomitable fighting spirit was admired by all. She was a Queen of Hearts to many. She lives on in the hearts of those she touched, for nothing loved is ever lost, and she was loved so very much.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 23, 2019, from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Forest Lawn Funeral Home in Goodlettsville. A Celebration of Life service will be conducted on Saturday, February 23, 2019, at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Forest Lawn Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
