Janet M. Bradley passed away on Friday, November 16, 2018 surrounded by her loving family. Janet was born in Memphis, Michigan, in 1936 to Ron and Louise Silk Passey. In 1984 she married the love of her life, James Bradley, in Port Huron, Michigan. They were blessed with 34 years of the kind of love and affection that you see in old movies, but rarely find in real life.
After Jim's retirement, they spent many years living in Jensen Beach, Florida, where Jan worked as a master seamstress and decorator. During this period of time they welcomed friends and family members to their home where they laid out the red carpet. Working as a team, they cooked up their special recipes, which included lavish desserts like Hummingbird cake and chocolate pie. Entertainment was provided as guests were treated to popcorn and movies, neck rubs, and a quick game of cards or Rummycub where Jan would soundly defeat all opponents. Jan had a special gift for talking to kids. She'd get down to their eye level and treat them like the cherished beings they were. She was irresistible to them. Jan loved to shop the thrift stores for bargains and could make any sow's ear into a silk purse. Her enthusiasm for life was contagious, and she was well-loved and will be greatly missed by many, many friends and family members.
Jan was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Mary Lou Gronek, in 2002. Her courageous and caring spirit is carried on through her husband, Jim, her five children: Dianne (Kenneth) Hurt, Brad Holmes, Lynn (Rick) Thomas, Sharon (Allen) Davis, Dawn (Carl ) Johnson, and a step-daughter, LeeAnne (Gerorge) McInnis. She was also survived by grandchildren David Hurt, Cortney (Dennis) Buckelew, Kerri (Kyle) Backer, Eric (Stephanie) Thomas, Michael (Amy) Davis, Amanda Davis, Health (Whitney) Johnson, Kyler Johnson, and Ryan McInnis, and nine great-grandchildren: Alex, Addy Belle, Henry, Leo, Brennan, Aubry, Caden, Autumn Blake and Devyn.
The funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, November 19, 2018 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Goodlettsville, Tennessee. Visitation is from 1:00 to 3:00.
