A Celebration of Life service will be held on July 13, 2024 @ 12pm. Visitation will be from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm at Connell United Methodist Church, Goodlettsville, TN.
Mr. Sloan was born September 10, 1939, in Goodlettsville, TN and the son of the late Alton Cortez Sloan and Aileen Brown Sloan. He was preceded in death by his daughter Gina Gay Sloan Updike.
Carl was a beloved husband, father, Grandaddy and Great Granddaddy.
He graduated from Goodlettsville High School in 1957, while attending Tennessee Tech he was also a member of the ROTC.
He was an active member of Connell United Methodist Church where he served several years as a Trustee. While at Connell, he also delivered for the “Meals on Wheels’ program and assisted with “Room in the Inn”.
Carl was a retired truck driver for over 45 years for various companies. During his trucking time, he had driven over 2 million miles with an accident free record.
He was also co-owner of ReMedPar that was established 1986.
Carl loved telling stories along with a good laugh and was such a comical character. He loved playing golf with Sandra and his golfing buddies, hanging out with the ‘Friday Night Gang’ and being a world traveler.
Survivors include his wife of 39 years Sandra Patrick Sloan, son Geoffrey [Gail] Sloan and daughter Lynne [Jason] Hancock.
Carl loved the Lord, his family and especially his eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Grand Children: Geoffery [Ashley] Sloan, Erin [Chase] Jenkins, Carrie Updike, Michael Updike, Tyler [Ashley] Hancock, Addison [Dray] Curtis, Sara Kate [Luke] Davis, and Judson Sloan. Eight Great Grandchildren: Katie Jenkins, Karleigh Jenkins, Hailey Updike, Micah Davis, Raylee Hancock, Nolan Sloan Davis, Drayton Curtis, and Lowry Anne Davis.
Also survived by his sisters Peggy Ferrell and Juanita [Dave] Dilick and brothers Edward [Wanda] Sloan, and David [Hallie] Sloan, and many nieces and nephews.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Roy Collins, Howard Saunders, Jim Caldwell, Chris Thompson, Jim Moore, John Finch, Bob Diers, and Dan Reinwald.
