Amelia Maria Gonzales

Funeral Mass is under the direction of Buffington Funeral Home in Gonzales, Texas and will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Gonzales, Texas on Friday, June 17, 2016 at 2:00 pm with Father Paul Raaz officiating. Burial will follow at Gonzales Memorial Park Cemetery in Gonzales, Texas. A Rosary will be recited on Thursday, June 16, 2016 at 7:00 pm at Buffington Funeral Home Chapel in Gonzales, Texas.

Amelia was born on October 7, 1932 in Gonzales, Texas. She was the daughter of Antonio and Isabel (Cantu) Gonzales. She enjoyed reading her Bible and taking care of her flower garden. She liked to go fishing and playing dominoes. Maria did arts & crafts and painting. She raised chickens, and watched her love birds. She was a homemaker raising many children.

Maria is survived by five sons; Jose Julio Salinas and his wife, Petra of San Antonio, Texas, Julio Salinas, III and his wife, Elisa of Gonzales, Texas, Julio Antonio Salinas and his wife Antonia of Boling, Texas, Manuel Gonzales and his wife, Oralee of San Antonio, Texas, Michael Gonzales and his wife, Rebecca of Pflugerville, Texas, eight daughters; Rosalinda Salinas of Luling, Texas, Maria Villareal and her husband, Richard of Gonzales, Texas, Dolores Clack and her husband, David of Gonzales, Texas, Patricia Salinas and Fidel of Waelder, Texas, Felisita and George Solis of Gonzales, Texas, Francisca Nino and her husband, Guadalupe og Luling, Texas, Melissa Gonzales of Waelder, Texas, Juanita Gonzales of Gonzales, Texas, two brothers; Lionel Cantu and his wife, Polly of Blackfoot, Idaho, Jesse Valle and his wife, Doris of Gonzales, Texas, five sisters; Teresa Casarres and her husband, Hilario of Shiner, Texas, Guadalupe Longoria of Converse, Texas, Ufemia Satterwhite of Florida, Gloria Navajar of Gonzales, Texas, Elvira McCardy and her husband, Marvin of Gonzales, Texas, fifty-three grandchildren, eighty-eight great-grandchildren, forty-four great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; Antonio and Isabel Gonzales, one son; Santos Valle, three sisters; Rosalinda Sepulveda, Severa Cuellar, Natalia Cantu, one grandson; Jesse James Herrera, and one granddaughter; Denise Lopez.

Pallbearers for Mrs. Gonzales will be; Luis Cabrera, Albert Garcia, Steven Herrera, Julian Salinas, Rick Salinas, Anthony Lopez, Jose Nino, and Mike Gonzales. Honorary Pallbearer will be; Mark Grant.
