Virginia “Rae” LeBlanc, 83, of Gonzales went home to be with her Lord on September 5, 2023. After a short battle with cancer, she passed away Tuesday at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Rae was born on April 5, 1940 in Baton Rouge, LA. She graduated from Istrouma High School in 1958, before going on to dazzle crowds with her inner and outer beauty on pageant stages. In November of 1959, Rae was married to her life-long dance partner and best friend, Robert J. “Bobby” LeBlanc, a retiree of BASF in Geismar, LA. Bobby and Rae settled in Gonzales and were blessed with 3 loving children, 6 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and numerous step grandchildren: daughter Tami LeBlanc Stewart of Geismar [Bradley, Lindsay Nichols, Blakely Bennett, Devon] and sons Kyle D. (Jill) LeBlanc of Baton Rouge, and Duane M. LeBlanc [Dylan] of Gonzales. She is also survived by her sister Mary A. Price of Shreveport, brother-in-law Chuck (Sharon) LeBlanc , and 11 nieces and nephews. Rae lived her life with a constant focus on her family. She was a devoted wife, grandmother, and great-grandmother, as well as a cherished friend to many. In their golden years, Bobby and Rae made and sold a variety of handmade wooden crafts, frequented “sock hops” and dances with their treasured friends at The Canal Bank Club in Maurepas, and shared a decade-long interest in ancestry research. She was a dedicated member of St. Theresa of Avila Catholic Church in Gonzales, LA; she held her faith and her Lord close until her final breaths. She is preceded in death by her parents: Cpl. John Frank Price WWI veteran and Zephyr Moreau, siblings John F. Price, Jr., Doris Price, Gary Price, and Wallace Price, nephew Robert D. Harrison, and niece Terri Lynn Price. Rae so looked forward to seeing them all again on the other side of this life— especially her momma and daddy. The family would like to extend a very sincere thank-you to the doctors, nurses, and staff of Our Lady of the Lake Ascension, whose caring and tender treatment of Rae and her whole family made this devastating time a little easier to get through. You were definitely a light in a dark period. We would also like to thank Clarity Hospice of Baton Rouge for their support in Rae’s final days. The family will receive visitors at Ourso Funeral Home from 5 pm to 8 pm on Thurs, Sept 7, 2023. Visitors will also be received from 10 am until Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am on Friday, Sept 8, 2023 at St. Theresa of Avila Catholic Church in Gonzales, with graveside service to follow. Whether we called her “honey,” “mama,” “maw maw,” “Aunt Rae,” “ol’ maw maw” or just plain “Rae,” our message is all the same: You were such a blessing to every person whose path you crossed. You never met a stranger, and loved people. We know the last few years and especially months had been very tough on you, but we are so glad that you are at peace and with your Savior. Our tears will last only a little while, but our sweet memories of you will last forever. Rest easy. Until we meet again. Should you feel so inclined: in lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate to The American Cancer Society, in Rae’s honor. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.oursofh.com for the Leblanc family.
