Velma “Joyce” LaBauve passed away on Monday, July 15, 2024 at the age of 74, after a 3 year battle with kidney failure and being on dialysis. Joyce was born on December 7, 1949 in Newton, TX in a small log cabin shared with her parents and siblings. She was a resident of “The Lake” in St. Amant, LA the past 40 years.
Before becoming ill, she enjoyed “Cruisin The Coast”, camping, shrimping, spending time at the Mississippi hunting camp, and working along the side of her beloved husband, Ray Sr. She never shied away from hard work or cooking large meals for her family. Joyce also enjoyed decorating and celebrating all major holidays. She retired from Ascension Parish School Board system where she loved serving lunch to “her babies”.
Joyce is survived by her children: Mark Diaz, Renee LaBauve (CJ), Stacie Richardson (Troy), Sydney Roddy Edmonston and stepson, Ray LaBauve, Jr. (Wanda); Grandchildren: Alyssa LaBauve Anderson (Cody), Blake LaBauve, Kylee Richardson, Avery Lea Edmonston, Nina McDowell (Allen) and Ray LaBauve III (Tabitha); Great Grandchildren: Ellie Jo and Maggie Rae Anderson; Baylin, Isabella and Mackenzie Wyatt; RJ and Hanna LaBauve and with one Great-Great Grandchild on the way; Sisters: Delores Torres and Vivian Kelley and brother Delbert Inman.
She was proceeded in death by her husband of 30 years Ray LaBauve, Sr., parents Ira Inman, Louise and Johnny Mentlewski, siblings: David Inman (Mary Lou), Joanie Nostrand, Melba Roddy (Henry), Delton Inman, Steve Kelley and her twin, baby Thelma Inman.
Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation on Sunday, July 21, 2024 from 5:00 to 8:00pm at Ourso Funeral Home, 13533 Airline Hwy, Gonzales, LA and to resume Monday, July 22, 2024 from 9:00 to 11:00am with services by Pastor Truman Stagg. The burial will follow at 12:00pm at Holy Rosary Cemetery.
On behalf of our mother, family would like to thank Baton Rouge General Home Health Staff, Fresenius Kidney Care of Galvez Staff and Galvez-Lake VFD for their care through the years. We would like to thank Mr. Carl for transporting our mom for her dialysis. We would like to offer a special thank you to the supportive care by the CNA’s and Nurses at Clarity Hospice during the final days of our mother’s life.
