Louis graduated from Southeastern Louisiana University with a Masters in Science Education. Shortly after graduation, he was hired by Exxon Chemical as a lab tech and worked there for 30 years until he retired.
Louis’s primary hobby was “Trains”.
He chased trains, took pictures of trains powered by steam, and wrote two books on trains, in addition to providing many articles and photos for train magazines. He had his own darkroom to develop negatives and make prints from the thousands of negatives he had, including the many negative collections he acquired.
Louis was preceded in death by his parents, Louis R. Saillard lll and Lois Angelloz Saillard and a beloved aunt, Alice Cecile Saillard.
Louis is survived by his wife of 31 years, Judy Bourgeois Williams Saillard, his stepson Marcus Williams and wife Jennifer Sitton, his stepdaughter, Pamela Williams Thrower and husband Russell Thrower, and his step grandchildren Ashford and Amelie Williams and Scott and Luna Thrower. “Gramps” always thought of them as his children and grandchildren.
Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation which will be held at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church (44450 Hwy 429, St. Amant, LA) on Tuesday, November 19th. Visitation will be from 9-11am, with a funeral and burial service to follow.
Louis’s favorite color was blue.
We will be honoring that fact by wearing blue clothing and encourage you to wear something blue in his memory.
In Lieu of Flowers, a donation to the American Diabetes Association or the American Heart Association in his honor is appreciated.
