The Lord and his blessed Mother has called Joe home on June 6, 2013 at the age of 80. He was a lifelong Catholic, graduating from Catholic High, one semester at LSU and then served four years in the U.S. Navy. He started the Giving Tree and Friday Adoration at Immaculate Conception Church in Lakeland, helped keep up the cemeteries, taught R.C.I.A and was a Eucharistic minister. He served two terms as Grand Knight of Council 8898 and was a member of the 4th Degree council in New Roads. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Marilyn Lea Lusk; daughter & son-in-law Ruth & Rickey Vaughn; five grandchildren: Nicole & Tory Guitreau, Raymond & Misty Lynn Vaughn, Derek & Shannon Vaughn, Stephen & Misty Renee' Vaughn and Daniel Joseph Lusk; twelve great grandchildren: Cheramie Vaughn, Madison, Macy Guitreau, Kayla Guitreau, Ashlyn, Gage, Baileigh, Christopher, Kiersten, Ty, Ace, and Beau Vaughn, twenty-two nieces and nephews; and godchildren: Steve Lusk, Clair Brown, Kevin Amond, Keith Amond. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Webster Lusk; his siblings, D.W. Lusk, Alfred P. Lusk, Sister Joseph Marie S.J., Sister Joseph Daniel S.J., Mabel Kelly, Marian Lusk, Myrtle St. Pierre and his only son Daniel Leslie Lusk. Visitation will be held at Ourso Funeral Home on Friday, June 7, from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. and resume on Saturday, June 8, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Lakeland, LA, from 8 a.m. until service at 11:30 a.m. celebrated by Rev. Greg Daigle, followed by burial in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Raymond Vaughn, Derek Vaughn, Stephen Vaughn, Christopher Vaughn, Keith Amond and Tory Guitreau.
