A resident of Prairieville and native of Union, LA, she passed away Sunday, Sept. 1, 2013. Betty was 90. Visiting will be at St. Michael Catholic Church in Convent on Wednesday, September 4, 2013 from 9 am until Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am, Fr. Ed Fuss, officiating. Entombment to follow in St. Mary's Chapel Mausoleum, Union. She is survived by her two daughters, Mary Mire Smiley of Prairieville and Janet Mire Dupepe and her husband, Mark of Gonzales; two sons, Thomas Mire and wife, Barbara of St. Amant and Bobby Mire and wife, Dale of Gonzales; a sister, Netta Haydel Bergeron of Gonzales; 9 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and 1 great great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, Allie Joseph Mire; parents, Etienne Michael Haydel, Sr. and Lovenia Letulle Haydel; sister, Una Dicharry; and a brother, Etienne Haydel, Jr. Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Betty was a long standing member of the Catholic Daughters of America and the choirs of both St. Mary's Chapel and St. Michael Church. She also served as a sacristan at St. Mary's Chapel.
