He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Josephine LeBoeuf Daigle, of Houma; his three children, Monica Weimer (Chester), Claire Slaughter (Ollie Pruett), and Carroll “Butch” Daigle, Jr.; He is also survived by his 8 grandchildren, Mark Sotile, Jr., Melissa Zeller (Brad), Matt Sotile (Sarah), Michelle Troxclair (Lance), Terry Dugas, Jr, (Jessica), Brady Dugas, Jonathan Slaughter, and Georgia Malbrough (Brannon), together with 12 great grandchildren; Butch is also survived by his brothers, John Leslie Daigle, Sr. (Anne), Jerome Daigle (Carmel), Tommy Daigle (Nelva); his two sisters, Anna Marie Hebert and Carolyn Milstead.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Mary Beth Daigle Sotile; and son, Michael Wayne Daigle. Also, his parents, Edward and Gertrude “Momie” Daigle, and his siblings, Edward “Bobby” Daigle, Gerald Daigle, Ray Daigle, Elizabeth “Chibby” Begue.
Butch was a Korean War Veteran and was a retired business owner of Fairwood Food Center. He was known as “Mr. Fairwood”, then later as “Pops” to many.
He was a devout Catholic and a wonderful caregiver adored by the Gonzales community. He enjoyed cutting grass and exercising, but all else, spending time with his loved ones.
The family would like to thank all who took care of him over the years, especially Dr. Michael Castine, Dr. Benton Dupont as well as his caretakers, Felicia Payton and Stephanie Paulino.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 20, 2021 at St. Theresa of Avila Catholic Church in Gonzales. Visitation will be from 10:00AM-12:00PM with a Mass of Christian burial at 12:00PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to be made to the Mary Daigle Sotile Scholarship at St. Theresa Catholic School, 212 East New River Street, Gonzales, Louisiana 70737.
